The Organisation

Karara Mining is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of China’s biggest steel makers and iron ore miners.  Encompassing a world-class magnetite deposit and multiple hematite deposits, Karara will be a substantial, long-life iron ore business.

We are looking for innovative, influential and capable mining leadership professional to be part of this future.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a resources company that will grow significantly through our Karara Mining project in the next year and with a resource with mine life in excess of 30 years.  KML are currently seeking Superintendent Mining to join us on site on 8/6 roster:

Key Objectives and Accountabilities

• Ensure that all statutory requirements and company policies and procedures applicable to mining are implemented, monitored, complied with and reported
• Determine, formulate and direct mining procedures and practices which are consistent with company goals and objectives.
• Ensure Contract Mining is aligned with and successfully contributing to the achievement of the Companies goals and objectives. 
• Supply input into the following tasks to ensure they are being undertaken consistent with company goals and objectives;
  • Short term mine planning and scheduling.
  • Drilling and blasting.
  • Grade control including reconciliation.
  • Surveying
  • Mine geology
  • Mine Rehabilitation.
  • Long term planning and scheduling
• Cooperation with all other departments to ensure company plans and targets are achieved.
• Analyse daily production and cost data to ensure mining is operating as efficiently and effective as possible within the company plans.
• Assume supervision and control of Processing Superintendents duties when they are off site.
• Help develop strategic/annual plans and budgets for mining. 
• Engage in continuous improvement to constantly seek better, safer and more efficient ways of undertaking the activities or tasks.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated safety, environmental and cultural heritage leadership and performance in previous roles
• Current Quarry Managers WA Certificate of Competence
• Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Extensive mining industry experience including in a leadership capacity
• Experience in the management of contract mining
• Team leadership
• Strong production target and cost management performance in prior role
