BHP Billiton’s Nickel West Northern Region Operations is made up of three operating sites - Mt Keith (MKO), Leinster (LNO) and Cliffs.
Mt Keith is a large scale Nickel Sulphide operation consisting of a low grade open pit mine which is processed through one of the largest flotation plants in the southern hemisphere.
Leinster Nickel Operation (LNO) comprises a large sub-level cave underground mine and a Concentrator.
Cliffs Nickel Operation, situated behind the MKO operation is a narrow vein Nickel/Cobalt deposit and forms part of the Leinster operation.
Combined, these operations feed concentrate to the Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter which then feeds Nickel matte to our Kwinana Nickel Refinery. The final product is 99.8% Nickel in the form of briquettes… a truly integrated business!
