NRW Civil and Mining

NRW was established in 1994, with its first contract in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. The name NRW was derived from an initial of each of the co-founders and the company started as a small, privately run civil constructing and general plant hire firm.

In the years since, NRW has significantly expanded its service offerings and through its move to the Pilbara region in 1998, now holds the enviable position as one of Australia’s leading suppliers of diversified services in the civil and mining industry.

Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2007, NRW’s current client list includes global resource giants BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto. Other key clients include Fortescue Metals Group and Middlemount Coal (Macarthur Coal/Gloucester Coal Joint Venture).

In 2007 NRW commenced international operations in Guinea, West Africa for Rio Tinto’s Simandou project which continues to the present day. As well as developing its international branch, NRW has expanded its civil contracting capability to include concrete installation, allowing the organic growth of the business to continue.

NRW’s strategy of commodity and geographical diversification was realised in 2011 with the award of a five year coal mining contract in Queensland’s Bowen Basin for Middlemount Coal.

In 2007 NRW Holdings Limited acquired Action Mining Services, a subsidiary offering a comprehensive refurbishment and rebuild service for earthmoving equipment and machinery. In 2010, to complement the Civil and Mining divisions as well as Action Mining Services, NRW established Action Drill & Blast. The company provides drill and blast services to the NRW Group and also independently seeks contract opportunities direct to mining and civil companies throughout Australia.

NRW’s people are the basis of the company’s success and invest heavily in their growth and development. Keeping staff safe at all times is paramount to the foundations on which the NRW business is built.

NRW has strong ties to the communities and the people in the remote regional areas in which they predominantly operate. The Indigenous training program, Powerup; Indigenous Joint Ventures; and ongoing sponsorship of local organisations are just some examples of how NRW maintains these ties.

NRW continues to utilise the diverse skills and experience of its Management Team and Board of Directors to build upon its strengths and continue to prove its value as a provider of quality services to the Resources and Infrastructure sector.
