Characterised by price volatility, margin pressure and regulatory changes, the biggest challenge for the energy and resources industry is to continually adapt the speed and efficiency of production and distribution to the peaks and troughs of demand - while investing in renewable resource options, sustainable supply and use.

OUR PEOPLE

GHD’s culture is rich and diverse with more than 6000 talented people on five continents. We are proud to be a globally connected community. The economic downturn has posed significant challenges for our people, but they have responded in the spirit of our core values of Teamwork, Respect and Integrity. In fact, they have adapted to the new business environment with resolution and commitment to our clients. There remains a great stability and retention of experienced people within GHD. Over 25 percent of our people have over five years’ service, including 10 percent with more than 10 years service. As a result, our culture and performance remains strong and consistent.

We continued to invest in our future with over 143 graduates joining the firm in 2009. About 30 percent of our people are women and the past year saw the greatest increase in the number of women in professional positions. GHD was highly commended by the Australian Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency for its approach to and achievements in equal opportunity employment. The ‘Women in GHD’ networking forum encourages and capitalises on the strengths of women.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

With a core curriculum of 125 programs, the GHD Business School offers technical, operational and leadership training designed to develop the individual capabilities of our people.
