New functionality on Theresourcechannel.com.au website will allow visitors to find industry-specific training, conference and events information.  In addition, subscribers to the site will be able to nominate to follow specific companies on the site.  This means that whenever the nominated organisation posts updated employment news, the subscriber is immediately notified.

Ichthys helps build bright future for the Territory

The economic stimulus created by the Ichthys LNG Project will result in an expansion of the Australian and Northern Territory economies, and greater opportunities for business and employment.

INPEX General Manager External Affairs and Joint Venture Bill Townsend said INPEX is working closely with the Northern Territory business community in particular to raise awareness about the prequalification process.

“We want to make sure as many local companies as possible are eligible to win contracts,” Mr Townsend said.

ConocoPhillips awards Bayu-Undan contract extension to Clough AMEC

Clough AMEC has been awarded a two year extension by ConocoPhillips for the provision of operations and maintenance services to the Bayu-Undan facilities located in the Timor Sea.

The scope of work includes implementation engineering, work package preparation, planning, hazard assessment, coordination, offshore field services and implementation. An important part of the contract is training and capability development in Timor Leste that will build on the work already undertaken by Clough AMEC in the region.

BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam Expansion approved

Up to 6,000 jobs will be created during the decade-long construction phase of BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam expansion in South Australia, with 4,000 of those ongoing permanent jobs at the mine itself.

BHP Billiton this week announced approval for US$1.2 billion in pre-commitment capital for the first phase of the Olympic Dam Project, off the back of South Australian and Government environmental approvals announced on 10 October.

Chevron Wheatstone Project to generate 6,000+ jobs

Chevron’s second major project after Gorgon now has the official go-ahead, making Western Australia the world’s second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) behind Qatar.

The $29 billion Wheatstone LNG project was given federal environmental approval last week to proceed.
