AusGroup Acquisition

We recently blogged about Western Australian (Kwinana) based AusGroup's $120m contract for Woodside's Pluto LNG Project, through their Australian subsidiary, AGC Industries.  The contract requires AGC to provide construction support activities relating to the Pluto LNG process facility.  This includes mechanical works associated with the installation of structural steel and process piping, installation of mechanical equipment, pre-assembled pipe racks, modules and structures, testing of pipework and associated activities.

Murchison Metals - OPR, Crosslands and Rocklea

Murchison Metals Limited has made a strong start to 2009 by achieving three significant milestones in hits plan to develop the world-class iron ore assets it holds in the mid west and Pilbara regions.

On 20 March this year, the company through its joint venture Oakajee Port and Rail Pty Ltd (OPR) moved one step closer toward the construction of a new $3b deepwater port and railway line in the mid west by signing a State Development Agreement with the Western Australian government.

RCR Tomlinson and Laing O'Rourke BHPB Iron Ore Contract

BHP Billiton Iron Ore has contracted joint venture partners, RCR Tomlinson and Laing O'Rourke to design and construct primary and secondary crushing facilities, including overland conveyors, for their $150m Rapid Growth Project 5 in the Pilbara. 

The JV will commence design work immediately, with construction completed by the first quarter of 2011.  In addition, the joint venture also has a strategic supply agreement with BHP Billiton Iron Ore to supply apron feeders for new projects in the next five years.

FAST JV - still hiring

FAST is a joint venture between Fluor Australia and SKM to develop and deliver iron ore projects to meet the global market demand forecast for BHP Billiton Iron Ore Rapid Growth Project Stage 5.

The joint venture will provide program management of all projects and selected EPCM (engineering, procurement, construction and management) services.

Samsung win contract for Collie Urea Project

Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers has signed a binding Heads of Agreement for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) work for its Collie Urea Project in Western Australia involving Samsung Engineering of Korea and P.T. Inti Karya Persada Tehnik of Indonesia. 

Samsung will act as the lead contractor for the EPC work on the US$2.5b Collie (Western Australia) Urea plant which is expected to generate around 1,500 jobs during the three year construction phase of the project and 200 permanent jobs during the plant operations.

Ausco wins $36m BHP Billiton Iron Ore Contract

Ausco Modular has secured a contract with BHP Billiton's iron ore expansion project worth $36m to install a 1200 bed village and associated facilities at Yandi in the north of Western Australia.

A modular building supplier, Ausco will start work on the village and facilities this month and hand over the completed project at the end of January 2010.

Their website does not necessarily indicate an increase in labour requirements, however you can make enquiries or submit your application to hr@ausco.com.au.

Monadelphous wins $100m BHP, Rio deals

In addition to recently being awarded a $170 million contract for major works associated with Woodside Petroleum Ltd's $12 billion Pluto liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia, Monadelphous has secured contracts valued at $100m with BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto.

Queensland Curtis LNG now hiring!

In May, we blogged about BG and the Queensland Curtis LNG Project (QCLNG) when BG Group announced that it had signed a LNG Project Development Agreement with one of China's leading integrated energy companies, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and its affiliates (CNOOC).

BG Group's wholly-owned business, QGC, continues to make good progress with QCLNG. Upstream exploration, appraisal and development activities are advancing and Front End Engineering and Design work is underway.

Modec - Ops and Maintenance provider for Pyrenees Venture

Modec is a general global contractor specialising in engineering, procurement, construction and installation of floating production systems including Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessels, Tension Leg Platforms (TLPs), Production Semi-Submersibles, Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPUs) and other new technologies to enable them to meet the challenges of various types of gas production floaters. 

Gladstone LNG (GLNG) Project Update

GLNG has announced today a binding Heads of Agreement to sell 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas to PETRONAS with an option for an additional 1mtpa.  The Agreement covers the sale and delivery of LNG to PETRONAS for a period of 20 years beginning in 2014 and the LNG will be utilised in the Malaysian domestic gas market.  The Agreement is conditional only upon the GLNG project reaching a final investment decision.
