Vacation Work this Summer with Barrick....

With your mid semester exams out of the way, now’s the time to start thinking about what you are going to do over your Christmas break! You may remember reading the blog about the Environmental Engineering Graduate who had the competitive advantage, when it came to looking for a Job, over Environmental Science Graduates, because the Vacation work component of her course was compulsory, but at least she did some!

If you haven’t secured Vac work already, you might want to look at the Barrick website. Barrick owns and operates four mines in the Yilgarn region (Plutonic, Lawlers, Darlot and Granny Smith), who, in total, process over 3.3 million tonnes of ore per annum producing in excess of 480koz in 2009.

They are seeking applications from university students currently studying an undergraduate degree in the following disciplines for Plutonic:

Mining Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Metallurgy
Geology

You will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most talented people within the mining industry and work on some of Barrick's most exciting projects. By joining Barrick as a Vacation student, you’ll be a valuable member of a friendly, diverse and high achieving team, which could lead to potential employment opportunities with us after you graduate.

If you are available to work full time between November 2009 and February 2010 on a FIFO roster from Perth please apply below. Note some rosters will require students to work over the Christmas/New Year period.
