The Santos GLNG Project has signed a Construction Service Agreement valued at up-to $24million with Australian company WDS to work on the development of the Project’s gas fields.

The contract will create around 30 new jobs and provide for the establishment of a new office facility in Roma as WDS increases its capacity to carry out field installation of gathering systems to connect the coal seam natural gas wells in Santos GLNG’s Fairview, Arcadia, and Roma gas fields.

President Santos GLNG Mark Macfarlane said the partnership with WDS was another great example of a local company continuing to expand its workforce and benefit from the CSG to LNG industry.

“Santos has been working with this Australian business for nine years and already around 230 WDS employees are helping to build our Project working in Roma, Arcadia, and Fairview. With work ramping up on the Santos GLNG Project, we are pleased to increase our work with WDS which will see its employee numbers boost to almost 260 people on our Project,” Mr Macfarlane said.

“We are committed to providing opportunities for local businesses. This contract is in addition to more than $3.4 billion in contracts that we have already awarded to Australian companies. Of this, almost $2 billion has been spent with Queensland suppliers for work in our gas fields.”

WDS Managing Director Terry Chapman said WDS had been working for Santos in the Fairview gas field since 2003.

“This project and the new facility continues this relationship and provides WDS with a further opportunity to showcase its capability to deliver CSG infrastructure projects including WDS’ award-winning approach to safety and exemplary environmental care,” Mr Chapman said.

The work will include civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation aspects of the
construction and management of field and trunk pipelines and CSG well heads.

The project and the company’s new facility will enhance the existing value of the personnel, plant, equipment and works provided to the Santos GLNG Project.
