Roy Hill has launched a national recruitment drive to help source local Australian  workers for the construction phase of the Roy Hill project. The campaign is part of the organisation's commitment to employing local workers and in line with the requirements set out in the EMA.

As part of the campaign national workforce services company SKILLED has been appointed to secure advance expressions of interest from jobseekers for its project.

Other important points:

  • The bulk of the job opportunities for the construction phase of the mine will occur after final investment approval in early 2013 and the subsequent appointment of major contractors.
  • SKILLED has 85 offices spread across Australia, and 40 years’ experience in the industry. They have a large existing database and the capability to identify suitable candidates through advertising, online, telephone, face-to-face discussions and Jobs Forums.
  • The contractors themselves will be directly responsible for undertaking primary recruitment and hiring for the construction phase of the Roy Hill project.
  • Their efforts will be supported by SKILLED’s major national recruitment program, Roy Hill on-line applications, as well as other avenues including The Resource Channel online service and the Federal government’s Jobs Board Roy
  • Roy Hill will create a database of contacts so contractors can be provided with the details of skilled and semi-skilled workers who have registered their interest in working on the project.
  • Roy Hill will attend two Jobs Forums over coming months, one in the Kwinana region of WA and the other in the Illawarra region of NSW.

This intensive approach towards the recruitment is aimed at securing local applicants with the right skills and experience to tackle the construction work challenges of the Pilbara.

The national recruitment drive builds on the $1.4bn investment Roy Hill has already made in WA and the popular local supplier roadshows which were recently conducted in Port Hedland, Newman and Perth.
