Boddington Gold Mine

; located south of Perth.  United Construction is one contractor supporting this project.  You can also apply directly to Newmont who are currently seeking Haul Truck Operators with a minimum two years experience on CAT 793 or 789 equipment.  Newmont also advise that they are now closing their Expression of Interest facility and commencing direct recruitment of operational positions as they become available.

Santos Gladstone LNG; 60% owned by Santos (also the operator) and 40% by Petronas, the project has progressed rapidly since July 2007 when Santos first announced its intention to develop an LNG project in Gladstone.  At its peak – likely to be 2011 - it is expected to employ around 3,000 people.  Aside from accepting general expressions of interest for career opportunities, Santos is currently seeking candidates for a significant number of roles advertised at http://santoscareers.nga.net.au/fnt_jobs_list.cfm:

CITIC Pacific Mining’s Sino Magnetite Iron Project

; over the next 25 years, this project will add nearly AU$75b in revenue to the Australian economy.  Spending on operations is expected to exceed AU$30b over the current life of the project and it will generate export revenue of at least AU$3b per annum.  Based at Cape Preston, 100km south west of Karratha in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, it is the first magnetite project of its scale in the State and, when complete, will be one of the world’s largest mines.  There are around 20 roles currently advertised at http://www.citicpacificmining.com/en/opportunities/overview/.  You can also lodge an expression of interest.

BHP Billiton Iron Ore Rapid Growth Project Stage 5 (known as RPG5); continues the expansion of a number of sites in the Pilbara and involves a capital investment of US$4.8 billion and is expected to be completed during calendar year 2011.  You will start to see a number of contractors advertising for people to support the expansion. 

BHP Billiton asked for expressions of interest from Mining Engineers, Mine Planning Experts, Mine Managers, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Asset Reliability Specialists, Process Engineers, Business Improvement Specialists, Electrical Engineers, Geoscientists, Rail Engineers and Maintenance Superintendents prior to Christmas and are reviewing candidates for anticipated roles.  Please also see the separate post on BHP Billiton in relation to the Company accepting internal and external applications at this time.

Gindalbie Metals; continues to ramp up for Karara Iron Ore project, 220kms inland from Geraldton.  The joint venture development between AnSteel, one of China’s leading steel and iron ore companies with Gindalbie Metals is at an advanced stage with construction due to start in 2009.
