The following is an overview of the PNG LNG Project. Whilst the exact number of jobs is unknown, the list of contractors/contacts is provided to assist you to determine where the job opportunities are during the construction phase. This list is current as at March 2012.

Operators: Esso Highlands Limited (Company), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation, is constructing and will operate the Project on behalf of the co-venturers – Oil Search Limited , NPCP, Santos, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration, Mineral Resources Development Companyand Petromin PNG Holdings Limited.

Location:  Hides, Angore and Juha fields and the associated gas resources in the currently operating oild fields of Kutub, Agogo, Gobe and Moran in the Southern Highlands and Western provinces of PNG.

Timeframe: Construction will take place between 2009 and 2013, and production to begin 2014 through to 2044.

Status:  Construction has commenced.  PNG LNG is an integrated development that includes gas production and processing facilities in the Southern Highlands and Western Provinces of Papua New Guinea, including liquefaction and storage facilities (located northwest of Port Moresby on the Gulf of Papua) with capacity of 6.6 million tons per year. There are over 700 kilometers (450 miles) of pipelines connecting the facilities. The Project will progress in a series of development phases with the first LNG deliveries scheduled to begin in 2014.

Awarded Contracts and Employment Opportunities include:

  • Chiyoda Corporation and JGC Corporation; awarded contract for the 6.6 million tons per year LNG plant including facilities for processing and treating natural gas, liquefaction,storage and loading.
  • A joint venture between CBI and Clough; awarded contract for the Hides gas conditioning plant.
  • SPIECAPAG; for onshore pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Saipem;  for the offshore pipeline.
  • A joint venture between McConnell Dowell Constructors and Consolidated Contractors Group Offshore; for support infrastructure.
