  • Status: A Spanish-led consortium, Southern Seawater Alliance (SSWA), last year signed a 25-year contract to build and operate the new plant, which was approved by the federal Department of Environment, subject to strict conditions. Construction has commenced and work packages are currently being awarded. Over the coming months, work will continue on the diaphragm walls at the seawater pump station, reverse osmosis building and micro-filtration building foundations and marine construction will commence.
