NRW – extended contract with BHPB generates jobs

Civil and mining services contractors NRW Holdings, in a joint venture with Laing O’Rourke and John Holland, have been awarded a variation by BHP Billiton Iron Ore to their existing contract for the southern section of the rail duplication for the RGP5 Project.

The variation is valued at approximately $145 million to the Consortium, with NRW’s additional component worth approximately $105 million.

In a statement by the company, NRW anticipate 170 additional jobs will be generated by the variation.

NRW’s services include civil construction and mining services, the sale of heavy mining and ancillary equipment, and full equipment maintenance and repair capabilities. They have a fleet of over 800 items of heavy earth moving equipment, an onsite workshop and Action Mining rebuild facilities, and each of their permanent operating sites have fully equipped workshops.

Their head office is located in Perth, Western Australia with branch offices in Newman, Kalgoorlie, Tom Price, Mackay (Queensland) and Simandou (West Africa). They currently employ over 1,500 full time employees, contractors and sub-contractors operating in locations in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and Guinea, West Africa.
