Nickel West Women ask 'what do women want?'

What do women want and need to stay in the workforce at Nickel West?  That’s the big question being asked of our female employees in a business-wide survey.

"By understanding why our female workforce stays or leaves the business, we will be able to better implement retention and recruitment strategies to mitigate a future skills shortage, and make Nickel West a workplace of choice," said Nickel West Recruitment Manager, Todd Cook.

"The survey will also look at recognition and career development opportunities for women, across all levels of the business."

The Nickel West Female Participation Committee is looking at different ways to improve attraction and retention of female employees, and also promote Nickel West as a workplace of choice in Western Australia.

"We are aiming for a year-on-year increase in the number of female employees at Nickel West, with equal and equitable pay between males and females. We plan to attract young females for non-traditional roles through high schools and our vacation, graduate and trainee programmes," said Todd.

"An important part of the overall strategy is also to ensure leadership and development opportunities become available to female employees at all levels of the business."

Nickel West aims to create a flexible, inclusive culture which is recognised as a workplace of choice for women and embraces diversity.
