Nickel West has an indigenous participation strategy which aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities for Indigenous job seekers. One aspect of this strategy is the relationship that Nickel West has had with the Clontarf foundation since 2001.
On the 25th August, the Clontarf Academy hosted an employment forum in Esperance. Nickel West attended along with representatives from other local companies to talk to the students from the South East Clontarf Academy in Esperance about careers, work experience and setting goals for their future.
One of the special guests in attendance was Chris Reynolds,
Whilst very nervous, Chris was invited to speak to the current students and share his experiences in his first year as an Apprentice Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter at Nickel West Mt Keith.
Chris himself was a 2010 year 12 graduate from the Clontarf Academy in Esperance.
Chris was also able to speak one on one with students about making the most of opportunities that present themselves and to work hard to give yourself the best opportunity to enter the career of your choice. Chris was joined during the conversations by Craig Edmonds and Rosanne Neil from Nickel West and had the opportunity to speak to approximately 30 young men about their dreams and aspirations.
