Nicholas Downs – Due to Open March 2010

Hancock Prospecting is expanding their reach with the announcement of their agreement with Mineral Resources this week to start operations at the Nicholas Downs manganese operation in March 2010.

Located in the Murchison region of Western Australia, first shipments are expected to sail from Port Hedland as early as April 2010.

Minerals Resources will mobilise a processing plant and equipment at the site – previously known as the Balfour Downs tenement - in January. (The site was renamed after the Nicholas family, who were pioneers in the north of Western Australia best known for bringing the first camels to the area to provide transportation and founders of Cobb & Co).
