National Adult Apprenticeship Program; a Progress Update

As we now recruit for the next intake of adult apprentices from around Australia, it is timely to provide an update on the last intake.

We have received over 50,000 enquiries on our website, over 3,700 registrations and have over 2,400 applicants who have passed the desktop audit and are ready to proceed to the final selection processes in addition to those already placed in the program.  Applicant numbers by discipline were:

• Metal Fabrication: 479
• Carpenter:” 393
• Diesel Mechanic:  599
• Electrical:  532
• Mechanical Fitter: 230
• Instrumentation: 146

Of this number, 2,379 were deemed eligible with 1,470 deemed non-eligible for the program.

1,097 applicants came from Queensland where the majority of promotion has been centred at this point.

We have now conducted five intakes for Anglo American Metallurgical Coal, Bechtel LNG and Macmahon.  These five intakes will immediately fill 137 of the 950 places currently available.
