Silis Parrington is employed with Ngarda Civil & Mining currently working on New Future Alliance project. She is our newest and first female Construction supervisor, taking on this role in addition to her initial position of Community Engagement Coordinator. She has delivered some fantastic outcomes for the teams working with her and for New Future Alliance as well as developing her own skills.
A Darwin local, Silis started her career as a document controller, then worked with the design teams and is now taking on a training and supervisory role in Alpurrurulam working with the local Aboriginal trainees on housing refurbishments from scoping right through to completion and handover.
Under Silis’s supervision this crew have handed several houses to date with little or no defects due to Silis’s keen eye for detail and high level of organisational skills.
They have a total target of twelve to reach in the first quarter of 2011, something that Silis is more than confident they can do. The crew have progressively gained confidence and knowledge since the first house learning what needs to be done when, what a scope is and how to organise themselves to do the work.
Silis is keen to continue down the path of supervising and training, working with our Aboriginal trainees and employees knowing that we are making a difference in the communities we work in and seeing it everyday first hand.
