HWE Mining's Oresome Maintenance Division Supervisor!

HWE Maintenance Services Supervisor Jamie O’Regan was recently announced as a BHP Billiton Iron Ore (BHPBIO) Oresome Award Winner, after being nominated by the Senior Maintenance Superintendent at the Mt Whaleback operations in Newman.

Oresome Awards are very rarely given to contractors – so it is an extraordinary achievement.
BHPBIO commented that Jamie’s work was constantly above average, highlighted by the walkways and emergency ladder work he successfully completed on S93 & S95.
The walkways required Jamie to measure and fabricate new ones. This was awkward given the state they were in. He measured on site, fabricated them in the HWE Perth workshop and when it came to fitting on site, he reckons it “went like a dream”.

Jaime has been with HWE for 5 years – and in the past 12 months, has taken on a supervisory role. He is a both a leader and team player, who strongly believes that “it took the hard work and dedication of the boys in the workshop to make the walkways and emergency ladders so that he could fit them”.

When he is not working hard for HWE in Newman, he plays hard with the local football club, the Newman Centrals. When at home in Perth, you will find him fishing or diving.
Jamie says that the best thing about being part of the team for HWE up in Newman is “working with the boys as part of a great team”.
