This week, FMG released a business update. Highlights include:
• 16 months now in production.
• Shipped in excess of 40 million tonnes.
• Low cost overburden system now in commissioning.
• On track to achieve 55 million tonnes before FY2011.
• Second processing plant is to be commissioned in 2010.
• Solomon project now under fast-track management, providing scope for enormous growth.
• Strong cash position of US$704m.
FMG cite their proven skills in construction and operations as a strong indicator that the potential scale and construction of Christmas Creek – once opened – could easily surpass Cloudbreak, already the Pilbara’s largest ore processing plant.
To demonstrate their point - the Herb Elliott port was taken from concept in 2006 to reality in 2008, the rail from concept in 2007 to reality in 2008 and the mine from concept in 2006 to reality in 2008.
