Santos - Gladstone LNG (GLNG) operator - has announced Fluor Australia as the preferred upstream engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.
Santos will extend Fluor’s current engineering design contract to include early works activities worth $50 million in anticipation of a final investment decision, which would allow official award of the EPC contract.
The GLNG upstream scope comprises all coal seam gas and associated water gathering and processing infrastructure for both the Fairview and Roma fields.
According to Santos President GLNG and Queensland Rick Wilkinson, GLNG remains on track for delivery of first LNG in 2014 despite earlier confirmation that the Final Investment Decision may be delayed.
The GLNG Project includes an initial 3.6 million tonnes per annum LNG processing train and associated infrastructure as well as a 435 kilometre pipeline linking a compression station at Santos’ Fairview and Roma coal seam gas fields in the Surat Basin to the liquefaction plant to be located at Gladstone.
