Whether you love it or you hate it we wanted to keep you informed on what is happening with the industry......
The first new mining lease for a uranium mining project in WA since the ban was removed in November 2008 has been granted by the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum to Mega Uranium Ltd, a Toronto based mineral resources company with a focus on uranium properties.
The mining lease has been granted to a subsidiary, Redport Exploration, for a project in the eastern goldfields, southeast of Wiluna. The project is currently at the Definitive Feasibility Study stage and looks to be on schedule to commence production in early 2012.
Mega Uranium has this week announced that with the mining lease now in place, they will increase the development and test work activities on the site. This will include trenching, bulk sampling for metallurgical studies, water studies and other project development works. The details of these works will be incorporated into the Definitive Feasibility Study which is currently scheduled for completion by late June 2010, with the Environmental Review and Management Program scheduled for submission by the end of September 2010.
