The number of responses to The District Council of Grant’s online surveys supporting the FIFO Hub Pilot for the south east of South Australia has exceeded expectations.
611 people in the region completed the individual Skills Profile Survey and 44 businesses completed the Business Profile.
The target for the individual survey was 500.
District Mayor, Richard Sage says the response rate for both surveys indicates strong support for the pilot.
The model has been developed and is being facilitated by leading employment news website for the Australian resource sector, The Resource Channel.
Managing Director of The Resource Channel, Jody Elliott says that five major employers are now waiting to see the final outcomes of the surveys.
“The outcome will be a comprehensive report for the region which will enable the District Council of Grant to determine planning requirements and for The Resource Channel to facilitate introductions to employers on behalf of the Council where we know the profile matches the need,” says Ms Elliott.
The report will also include details of initial submissions from up to nine invited airlines, airport and plane load availability, skills profiles and ascertain the level of interest in participating in FIFO and on what rosters.
The report outcomes will be presented to employers identified as having a need to source a significant number of skills and allow the region to showcase the businesses that may be able to engage with the mining sector.
The report will be lodged with the District Council of Grant by Friday 17 August with a briefing on outcomes and recommendations by Ms Elliott on Monday 20 August.
“Once recommendations are accepted by Council, presentations and introductions with employers will formally commence”, Ms Elliott says.
