The Face of Mining is Changing - Survey Update

Survey Update

Thank you to all those who recently participated in the mining candidate survey – “The Face of Mining is Changing” and for registering your details.  We had an overwhelming number of participants, and are now in the process of collating the results to present to the mining projects who requested the survey.  To give you a quick snapshot, the survey ran for a month and was completed by approximately 2500 people.

What happens next….?

The survey detailed that the mining projects are Queensland based and are in pre-feasibility stage.  At the point that a project is approved to go ahead, registered participants will be advised who the employer is and invited to release their details to become an automatic candidate.  They will also receive monthly updates that cover recruitment and employment related information for the mining industry.  All survey participants are receiving their first update today, via email newsletter and from this point on, information will be tailored relevant to level of experience in the industry.

It is anticipated that project approvals will happen sometime in the first half of 2011.  So from now until then, we will provide information that will better prepare participants for when the recruitment process might commence.

To our knowledge, this is the first time that a number of projects have canvassed job seekers to get feedback prior to recruitment starting.  This is an innovative and extremely important “pre employment” information plan.  With some of the highest targets to recruit - inexperienced and women in mining, it is important that candidates are provided with as much information as possible, to better understand the industry and what to expect.

This is an exciting era of change in the way recruitment is done and we look forward to the coming months of providing participants with more information.
