Expanding Norseman Gold
Norseman Gold operates Australia’s longest continuously running gold mining operation (two underground gold mines) in the Norseman field in Western Australia. Having produced in excess of 5.5 million ounces of gold over more than 65 years, Norseman Gold is now preparing for its next stage of expansion with the commencement of the OK Decline.
The operation contains key strategic infrastructure including a 700,000 tonnes per annum CIL treatment plant, administration offices and housing. The operations are well serviced with power, water and access via the sealed Kalgoorlie-Esperance Highway. The operation has approximately 200 employees and contractors.
The Company’s strategy is focused on extending the mine life through the conversion of resources into reserves and identifying additional resources. Management aims to increase the reserves at the mine through exploration drilling from the current level of 310,000 ounces to 500,000 to 750,000 ounces within the next two years, thereby providing a mine life of approximately five years. Thereafter, the Company will be seeking to expand the mine life to 10 years.
Situated at the junction of Highways 1 and 94, Norseman is the main town of the Shire of Dundas, which covers an area of some 93,000 sq km. While the main industry is gold mining, there are also vast sheep properties and the shire also boasts the largest semi arid woodland in the world.
The town was named after prospector Laurie Sinclair’s horse, ‘Hardy Norseman’, who uncovered a piece of gold bearing quartz in 1894. A significant gold reef was discovered and thousands flocked to make their fortune. Since then a rich history of gold mining has developed with numerous mines operating over the years and many ounces of gold being extracted.

The OK Decline project has entered the start-up phase and they are seeking applications for all new positions.
The following positions are being offered as Residential or DIDO from Esperance or Kalgoorlie (company housing is offered at a heavily subsidised rate or Single Persons Quarters (SPQs)):
• 3 x TWIN BOOM JUMBO OPERATORS
• 2 X FIXED PLANT FITTERS
• 3 X UNDERGROUND ELECTRICIANS
• 3 X BOGGER OPERATORS
• 3 X TRUCK DRIVERS – will consider applicants with no experience
• 3 X SHIFT SUPERVISORS
The following positions are being offered as Residential and include fully subsidised housing and utilities. However, DIDO from Kalgoorlie or Esperance and FIFO from Perth (on a 9:5 or 5:2, 4:3 roster) will be considered.
