Drama at the Gasfields – QGC in the Community

We’ve blogged a few times this year to keep you updated on the progress of Queensland Curtis LNG, which will turn QGC's world-class reserves of coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG). It’s estimated that about 4,400 new jobs are expected to be created during the lifetime of this project.

With a phenomenal period of growth, things are really ramping up with their recruitment drive, with vacancies from entry level to senior technical and managerial now listed on their careers page – 33 positions currently being recruited. For all the details, follow this link

But with the title of the Blog, Drama at the Gasfields, we wanted to highlight one of the Community Events that QGC has run, each year, for the past 3 years. “Drama At The Gasfields” is QGC’s award-winning community festival, which attracts growing numbers of people to the grounds of Windibri Homestead near Chinchilla, west of Brisbane. This year’s event attracted about 2,500 people, more than double last year’s crowd of 1,200 and drawing five times as many people as the inaugural event in 2006.

The event, celebrated the rise of singer-songwriter Pete Murray from his Chinchilla boyhood to international acclaim. As crowds sat down to enjoy the festivities, La Boite premiered its spirited new musical, Opportunity, based on Murray’s life.
