Clough Wins Second Contract as Exxon take FID on PNG LNG

December was an exciting month for Clough with the award of a second major contract for Exxon Mobil’s PNG LNG Project, which was given a green light on 8 December 2009.

The contract, awarded to CBI Clough JV and valued in excess of AU$1.2 billion involves the engineering, procurement and construction of the gas conditioning plant for the PNG LNG Project. Works will be performed by the joint venture between US EPC contractor CB&I (65%) and Clough (35%) and include the EPC work for the 960 million cubic foot per day conditioning plant, nearby wellheads and associated piping and infrastructure.

Approximately 1,200 employees are expected to be employed during peak construction, which is located at Hides, in the Highlands of Central Papua New Guinea. Engineering will start immediately in Perth and Singapore and construction is expected to be complete by the end of first quarter 2013.

This follows the award of the Upstream Infrastructure project to the Clough Curtain Joint Venture in May 2009. Work on this project is already underway.

“We are delighted to be awarded this contract on this world class LNG project and we look forward to a busy year ahead working with our valued partners to help Exxon and their partners achieve success on this important project” said Clough’s CEO, John Smith.
