Brockman 4 employs Rio Tinto’s proven “One Team” model for Fixed Plant Operations and Maintenance.
Essentially this combines the traditional Production and Maintenance teams into one focused Fixed Plant team.
This gives the team greater strength and knowledge being dedicated to the ongoing life and production of their plant.
For example, if an operator is having difficulties getting a specific part of equipment working to standard, they can simply get help from a fitter from their own crew and work the problem together. If a maintenance request is needed for further planning, the planning team will have a better understanding of the fault as the root cause of the problem has already been addressed at the time of the fault. In future the operator will have a better idea of the maintenance strategy of that piece of equipment and the fitter will have a better understanding of operational needs.
At Brockman 4 we believe the age old debate of Production v Maintenance (and vice versa) does not apply. There is no “us and them” attitude. The one team approach fosters the development of each discipline towards greater plant life and production targets.
To be a successful team member of an ownership team you need to be open minded and ready to challenge what you know and have done in the past.
Another initiative at Brockman 4 is the combination of Maintenance Planning and Warehouse functions into one team. This strengthens the essential relationship between the two departments, enabling planned parts to be sourced and delivered at the correct time, and a seamless communication/delivery in relation to shutdown and breakdown parts.
