Marandoo is one of Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations located in the Pilbara, approximately 45 kilometres east of Tom Price.
Officially opened in 1994, the mine currently produces 15 million tonnes of iron ore per annum and is about to embark on an exciting expansion programme
Exploration and establishing the wet plant operation below water table will extend mine life to 2029, and require additional machinery, accommodation, and a workforce of over 700.
Recruitment is underway with a key focus being on capturing new talent across all disciplines, including; Management and Business Improvement, Health and Safety, Load and Haul, Drill & Blast, Mobile Maintenance, Fixed Plant Operations; Technical Services and Operational Planning, Maintenance Planning and Engineering Infrastructure. A strong commitment will be placed on diversity, encouraging Indigenous and females into the workforce.
Current machinery includes a crushing and screening plant, as well as Cat D11R Track and 844 RTD Wheel Dozers, Cubex QXR 920 Drills, Komatsu 730e Haul Trucks, Hitachi EX 2500 face Shovels, Cat 16M graders and Komatsu 1200 Loaders. Machinery will increase over time and other options will be explored due to the Marandoo clay area.
Marandoo plans to pump water supply to agricultural areas and to reinject bore fields and pumping stations, electrical distribution systems and sub stations.
Offering fly-in fly-out rosters, modern accommodation and a great working team, Marandoo is a sure sign that mining is the way of the future.
