BHP Billiton has awarded $70m in new electrical and instrumentation contracts to Downer EDI.
The contracts will see Downer for responsible for both the greenfields and brownfields transmission line and substation works as part of the Newman HV Power System Augmentation project, part of the broader Jimblebar project.
Downer’s scope of works include the supply and installation of electrical power and control components for two new substations; modifications on existing substations and transmission lines and the upgrade of network control systems; and the installation of a new 132KV transmission line between the Newman and Jimblebar iron ore mines.
Downer will seek Electrical and Instrumentation trades and engineers.
