Asia Pacific opportunity Development Geology

Premier Oil is a leading  independent exploration and production company with gas and oil interests across the Asia Pacific region. We presently have a permanent role within our Vietnam operation.

Based in vibrant Ho Chi Minh City, this role will provide high quality Development Geological expertise within, and leadership to the existing subsurface group, for the appraisal, development and production phases of Premier Oil Vietnam's oil fields. You will work closely with development geophysicists, reservoir engineers and drillers in achieving business goals.

Key accountabilities:

  • Analysing available geological data: well logs, core data, sedimentological studies, regional data etc. to generate a geological model of the reservoir to be developed.
  • Working with geophysicists to incorporate geophysical interpretations into reservoir structural models
  • Creating a structural and facies model of the reservoir in Petrel and generating a series of geomodels that represent likely scenarios for the reservoir and exporting them for reservoir simulation.
  • Liaising with Development Geophysicists and Reservoir Engineers to optimise the reservoir model, the subsurface development plan and selecting appraisal and development well locations.
  • Working with RE, Operations Geologist and Drilling group on well designs, logging, casing and coring and testing programmes.
  • Monitoring the progress of drilling the wells and advising on any changes to the programme that may be required as a result of unexpected geological events.
  • Presenting to JV partners and Petrovietnam and establishing good working relationships with them.
  • Motivating and developing junior staff.


The successful individual will possess a high level of technical competence and be comfortable working to tight deadlines and closely with the related sub surface disciplines. Your team leader skills will be strong in providing mentoring and motivation to a technically strong team of Geologists. Relationship skills will also be tested in working with JV partners and Petrovietnam.

Requirements:

Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in Geology or a related discipline

Proficiency with geomodelling software, Petrel experience highly regarded

Substantial experience within Oil and Gas, including 10 years or more as a Development Geologist, ideally in a senior role
