APLNG building contract awarded to Hutchinson Builders

The Origin-led Australia Pacific LNG Project has awarded Queensland-based and privately owned, Hutchinson Builders a contract $51.7 million contract to provide 700 units to house mining personnel at the Condabri and Reedy Creek gas fields near Miles and Wallumbilla.

As part of the modular construction project, facilities such as mess halls, administration buildings, kitchens and a laundry will also be built.

Hutchinson Builders will also deliver civil site works, reverse osmosis water treatment plants, a sewerage-treatment plant and generator sets for power, providing 120 job opportunities for local workers.

There are currently 20 employees working on-site at Condabri and this number will continue to increase over the next month.  The units will be built in Hutchinson Builders’ new Toowoomba modular production facility and then trucked to the site.

Labour is expected to be drawn from Toowoomba only.

This contract is expected to hire project estimators, builder’s labourers, carpenters, electricians and formworkers.
