AGC awarded $100m contract with BHP Billiton

Only last week, we blogged about AGC being awarded a $34m contract for the onshore painting and insulation for Woodside’s Pluto LNG Project and today they have announced the award of a AU$100 million contract by BHP Billiton Iron Ore. This brings the Group’s current order book to AU$500m.

AusGroup’s Australian subsidiary, AGC Industries Pty Ltd ('AGC'), was awarded the contract for the structural, mechanical, piping and heavy haulage of the Rapid Growth Project 5 at the company’s Yandi operation.

The scope of work includes construction of an Ore Handling Plant, stockpile and conveyor systems; fabrication of 2,000 tonnes of conveyor components; and transportation of 43 structural modules - ranging from 100 to 300 tonnes - from Port Hedland to the Yandi mine site, located 140km northwest of Newman in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Mobilisation to site will begin in February 2010.

Off the back of both announcements, they are now ramping up recruitment efforts in readiness and have an extensive number of opportunities on offer including:

• Supervisors
• Quantity Surveyors
