CBH Resources’ received approval this week for a $110m expansion of its Rasp Mine in Broken Hill, New South Wales which will employ 250 people locally over its anticipated 15-year mine life.

The Rasp Mine is located centrally within the City of Broken Hill and the leases occupy the central region of the historic Broken Hill Line of Lode orebody and incorporate the original mine areas that commenced operations in the 1880s and still contains substantial tonnages of un-mined zinc-lead-silver mineralisation.

Approval was granted by the New South Wales Government for the underground mine and production will commence this year.  It is expected 8.45 million tonnes of ore will be extracted and processed over the life of the mine.

The expansion will provide a significant economic boost for Broken Hill.

CBH is headquartered in North Sydney, NSW. It has an operating base metal mine, the Endeavor Mine, near Cobar in western NSW and in addition to the Rasp Mine, has a second base metal project planned: the Panorama Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

At this stage, no further information is available relating to the timing of job opportunities – both directly with the Mine and with construction contractors.
