Bechtel announces 400 Adult Apprenticeships

Bechtel announced this month it will hire an unprecedented 400 adult apprentices for work on construction of the three LNG plants in Gladstone – Queensland Curtis LNG, GLNG, and Australia Pacific LNG. This will be one of the largest single intakes of adult apprentices in Australia’s history and the company will work closely with the Federal Government’s National Apprenticeships Program (NAP) to deliver the opportunities. 

Gorgon Project civil contract goes to Ertech

Ertech has been awarded the General Services contract with Chevron Australia for its Gorgon Project on Barrow Island, off the coast of Western Australia.

The General Services contract comprises the provision of a multi-skilled work force and equipment which will be based on the Project Site on Barrow Island, and is the third contract to be awarded to Ertech on the project.

Fortescue Metals award major EPC contract to RCR Tomlinson

Fortescue Metals has awarded RCR Tomlinson a major Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the Kings Ore Processing Facility and the Firetail Ore Processing Facility at the Solomon Iron Ore Project in Western Australia.

Valued at more than $600 million, work will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

Nickel West - Our Clontarf Academy Success

Nickel West has an indigenous participation strategy which aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities for Indigenous job seekers. One aspect of this strategy is the relationship that Nickel West has had with the Clontarf foundation since 2001.

On the 25th August, the Clontarf Academy hosted an employment forum in Esperance. Nickel West attended along with representatives from other local companies to talk to the students from the South East Clontarf Academy in Esperance about careers, work experience and setting goals for their future.

A great guide for Job Seekers

To secure employment in the resources sector, whether it is with a contracting company, supplier or resources organization, the minimum requirements are typically consistent.  The minimum requirements you need;

  • To complete a pre-employment medical at the company’s request, or as a minimum provide a medical clearance certificate from a GP.  Some medicals may also require you to complete a Functional Capacity Assessment, which is an evaluation of your ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role.

Ichthys helps build bright future for the Territory

The economic stimulus created by the Ichthys LNG Project will result in an expansion of the Australian and Northern Territory economies, and greater opportunities for business and employment.

INPEX General Manager External Affairs and Joint Venture Bill Townsend said INPEX is working closely with the Northern Territory business community in particular to raise awareness about the prequalification process.

“We want to make sure as many local companies as possible are eligible to win contracts,” Mr Townsend said.
