MACA – opportunities for Maintenance Disciplines

Mining & Civil Australia (MACA) is a privately owned and operated Western Australian company employing 200 people and providing contract mining, civil earthworks, crushing and screening and material haulage solutions.

Altas Iron: Following on from the award of a short term crushing and screening project at Pardoo, MACA was awarded a four year contract by Atlas Iron ltd in October to crush and screen Iron ore at their Pardoo Project.

Decmil – celebrates 30 years in business

It’s been a successful twelve months for Decmil, who celebrated 30 years in business in September 2009.

In October 2008, they were awarded a $115m civil works contract with Woodside’s Pluto LNG Project, followed by the $500m Gorgon joint venture contract in June to build the accommodation village on Barrow Island, off the Western Australian coast to accommodate 3,300 people during construction.

Tidewater – Offshore Marine Industry Jobs

Tidewater provide a variety of marine services globally, including the transportation of crews and supplies, towing and anchoring mobile rigs, assisting offshore construction and performing and three-dimensional seismic exploration.

Started in 1955 by ten investors who built the Ebb Tide, the first oil and gas service vessel, they quickly expanded to international operations by 1958. By 1966, their fleet of vessels had expanded to more than 200 working the United States, South America, Central America and West Africa.

Growth Opportunities with Aquila Resources

Perth-based Aquila Resources has an impressive number of projects on the go. With interests in coal, iron ore and manganese projects within Australia and South Africa, they’ve just announced their commitment to the Goonyella Abbott Point Expansion (GAPE) project in Queensland.

A1 Minerals – about to start production

In early May, A1 Minerals signed a $1.7m contract for the construction of its treatment plant at its BrightStar Project, located in the Laverton district of the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

The contract involved the refurbishment and reconstruction of the BrightStar Treatment Plant – now completed - and first production is rapidly approaching.

Other project highlights include:

• Key Treatment Plant and Environmental Approvals obtained.
• Delta Drilling results show further potential.
• Financing in place.
• On schedule for first Gold Pour in December 2009.
